For many people around the world, especially for women after pregnancy, stretch marks are a very common problem. They can appear as a result of rapid expansion or contraction of the skin, when the connective tissue in the dermis (middle layer of skin) gets stretched beyond its normal limits.
The reasons for this happening are different, such as rapid weight gain or weight loss, after pregnancy or as a result of prolonged use of some medications and so on.
The collagen production gets disrupted, as a result of the skin stretching and when these weakened collagen fibers don’t align properly, they result in fine scars that appear under the top layer of the skin.
Despite all the natural remedies that exist for this purpose, the most effective one is the lemon juice. As the lemon juice is rich in vitamin C, fatty acids and citric acid, it helps in exfoliation of dead skin cells, as well as in eliminating of stretch marks and some other skin injuries, acne and scars.
Lemons have enough moisture to hydrate the skin, even though they are acidic, and they also have the power of skin – whitening agents. Skin -related eruptions may also be relieved, as they contain anti – bacterial properties.
And also, the method of using lemons for eliminating stretch marks is very easy and simple. You just need to cut the lemon in two halves and rub the affected skin area with it. In order to release the juice into the stretch marks, squeeze the lemon slightly and apply it by using circular motion. Leave it like that for 10 minutes, and after that rinse with warm water.
Two times in a day, repeat the procedure for one month and you will notice that the stretch marks will start disappearing completely.
You can also combine the lemon with cucumbers (equal parts lemon juice and cucumber juice), or extra virgin oil, as well as mixing lemon juice (just a few drops of it) with honey.
