Maybe the size matters sometimes, but what people actually think is that how big the fruit is, it has better taste. This is one wrong belief, as the reality is that the average-sized watermelons are almost always the best choice.
2. GENDER OF THE WATERMELON
There are “boy” and “girl” watermelons. Those that are “boy” are actually more watery, while those that are “girl” are sweeter. For recognizing them, you should know that the “boy” watermelon is more elongated and taller, while the “girl” watermelon stout and more round.
3. FIELD SPOT
Every watermelon has this kind of spots, but you will recognize the best one by the creamy-yellow or orange-yellow color of the spots. Also, try to find some with a gold field spot.
As the tail of this fruit show the ripeness, you should buy the watermelon which tail is dried, as it has better taste. When the tail is green, it means that the fruit has been chosen too soon, so it won’t have the best taste.
This shows how many times the watermelon’s flower has been touched by the bees. If there are a lot of signs of pollination, the fruit will have a better taste.
