To prepare this dandelion syrup you will need:
400 yellow dandelion flowers
3 liters of water
2 cups of sugar
First take the dandelion flowers and put them in a bowl and pour 3 liters of water over them. Then cut the oranges and lemons into slices and add them in the bowl. Leave the mixture for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, strain the mixture and pour the liquid in a pot. Add the sugar in and cook for about 30 minutes.
Once the mixture boils and gets thick enough remove from the heat and put the syrup in sterilized jars.
Besides the dandelion flowers the dandelion root can be also used for medical purposes. The root has great health benefits and even cancer-fighting properties.
To prepare and store the dandelion root, you need to peel, cut and dry the dandelion roots on fresh air for around 2 weeks or until they become brittle under the fingers. When they are dry, put them into a jar and store in dark and cool place.
To prepare dandelion tea you need to pick some leaves, dry them out, mince them well and store them for further use. To prepare the tea you just simply need to add half a teaspoon of the mixture in a glass of water.
Another option to prepare a dandelion tea is to use 60 grams of a fresh mixture and 30 grams of the dried dandelion root. Put the mix in a pan with 2,5 ounces of water and a pinch of salt. Wait till it starts boiling, cover the pan and let it simmer fo about 20 minutes. Afterwards, strain the tea and consume three cups a day.
