Canker sores or also known as aphthous ulcers are small, shallow lesions that develop on the soft tissues in your mouth or at the base of your gums.
Unlike cold sores, canker sores don’t occur on the surface of your lips and they aren’t contagious. They can be painful, however, and can make eating and talking difficult.
It’s not totally known what causes these pesky painful spots on the inside of the mouth but biting your cheek/inside of your lip, braces rubbing, certain foods(including citrus or acidic fruits and vegetables) stress, genetics, and a malfunctioning immune response are all possible contributors.
Starting as a red patch of oval skin, they typically become increasingly inflamed and develop a white or yellow-ish spot in the middle.
This unpleasant condition can be treated with a simple natural remedy in a matter of minutes. Add a teaspoon of salt in a glass of water and rinse your mouth with the solution or gargle it in the morning. Warm up some water in the evening, then squeeze a lemon inside it and drink the beverage.
When you wake up in the morning, the canker sore should be gone.
