One of the most important aspects when it comes to cleaning up one’s diet is cutting out sugar.
As delicious as it actually is, sugar is for sure one of the worst foods four our entire health.
It can actually increase the risk for number of diseases and it can even affect our mental health.
When trying to decrease the sugar intake, a lot of people start by ditching donuts, cookies, candy and other sweets.
But, what we may not actually realize is that the drinks which we are consuming can actually be even worse.
For example, one typical candy bar, such as a standard-size Hershey’s chocolate bar, contains about 24 grams of sugar, but it is not uncommon or a sweet drink to contain much more sugar than that.
In today’s article, we are going to present you the seven drinks which contain more sugar then this entire candy bar. Here they are:
Gatorade is often a go-to drink after a workout, but by drinking it post – exercise, we are not filling our bodies with the best nutrients. Although the amounts vary depending on the flavor, one typical 20-ounce bottle of Gatorade contains 34 grams of sugar.
A lot of people drink this type of drink for energy, but they may want to think again before consuming it. In addition to its high caffeine content, this drink is also loaded with sugar, coming in at 27 grams of sugar per 8.4 fluid ounce. Red Bull can also make us feel alert for a bit, but we can expect to feel that sugar crash later.
Just because it has “vitamin” in its name, it does not make it healthy at all.
Just after water, cane sugar is the second ingredient in this type of drink.
A typical 20-ounce bottle contains 31 grams of sugar. It will be better for us if we get our vitamins from natural sources, such as from fruits and vegetables.
If it is a juice, it cannot be bad, right? Well, think again about this. As it is concentrated with so many fruits,
Naked Juice contains an unnecessarily high amount of sugar. Even a 15.2-ounce bottle of their “Green Machine” juice contains 53 grams of sugar.
Even though this type of juice is natural, it will be better for us to eat a whole fruit.
Too much sugar is too much sugar, and eating a whole fruit will also provide you with fiber, which will help you to feel full.
Coffee on its own is a red flag. When it is blended with a whole boatload of sugar, then we will have problems. Even just a tall Caramel Frappuccino from Starbucks contains 46 grams of sugar. When we upgrade to a grande we will be at 66 grams. And when you opt for a venti, there will be a whopping 84 grams of sugar.
When we think of sugary drinks, soda is actually often the first thing which will come on our mind, and that is for good reason too. For example, a 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola, contains 39 grams of sugar.
If you opt for a flavor like vanilla and cherry and you will be up to 42 grams. Considering that there are no other nutrients in the drink, we should skip soda entirely.
Lemonade is another drink which is packed with sugar. For example, one minute maid lemonade is only made with 3% juice.
It is not surprise that the rest of it is made up of sugar in the form of fructose. One 20-ounce bottle contains a shocking 67 grams of sugar.
